Foundation Female Raises $75,000 for Hereford Youth in Mile High Night Sale

2017 Donors: Barber Ranch, Channing, Texas

2017 Buyers: Kolt Cattle Co. and kids, Carly, Michael and Maren, Garland, Neb.; JB Show Cattle, Joe and Dee Braman, Refugio, Texas; King Ranch, Bill King, Moriarty, N.M.; and David Shelburg, Jacksonville, Fla.

The excitement was high as Lot 1 entered the sale ring on the Stadium floor Jan. 13 at the Mile High Night Sale in Denver. BR Kate Rielle 5532 ET sold for $75,000 to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America’s (HYFA) “Growing a Lasting Legacy” campaign.

The Lot 1 Foundation Female has been highlighting the National Hereford Sale in Denver the past nine years with a total of $690,000 being raised to support the HYFA’s mission, which recognizes and rewards the development of life skills and values in the next generation.

Kate Rielle was purchased by Kolt Cattle Co. and kids, Carly, Michael and Maren, Garland, Neb.; JB Show Cattle, Joe and Dee Braman, Refugio, Texas; King Ranch, Bill King, Moriarty, N.M.; and David Shelburg, Jacksonville, Fla.

“I’m very excited about what the future has in store for young Hereford leaders as we work to provide them with education, scholarship and leadership opportunities,” says Amy Cowan, American Hereford Association director of youth activities and foundation. “The Lot 1 story is such a great example of families giving back, and more importantly what the foundation stands for. We couldn’t do this without donors like the Barber family and the Kate Rielle buyers group who stepped up to give back and to make a difference in our Hereford youth program.”

Kate Rielle was donated by Barber Ranch, Channing, Texas. She is an Aug. 5, 2015, daughter of NJW 73S W18 Hometown 10Y ET and out of BR Gabrielle 5082 by BR Lansing 3060.

“We feel like there is no better way to support the next generation than with a female that can generate the type of attention and potential money that this heifer can bring for the foundation and help them reach the goal they’re striving to achieve,” says Terri Barber.
