2018 Foundation Female Raises $80,000 to Benefit Hereford Youth

MF 104Y Eve 109 19E ET sold for $80,000 to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America’s (HYFA) Growing a Lasting Legacy Campaign, Jan. 12, at the Mile High Night Sale in Denver.

The Lot 1 Foundation Female has been highlighting the National Hereford Sale in Denver the past 10 years with a total of $770,000 being raised to support HYFA’s mission, which recognizes and rewards the development of life skills and values in the next generation.

Eve was purchased by Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla.; Buck Cattle Company, Madill, Okla.; and Moore Cattle Company, Madill, Okla.

“Each year, Lot 1 kicks off the Denver sale, and the Hereford Youth Foundation of America is so very fortunate to have such a generous donor base supporting one of our largest fundraisers of the year,” said Amy Cowan, American Hereford Association director of youth activities and foundation. “We could not be more excited to see these prestigious ranches from Oklahoma step up to support education and leadership programs. We owe a sincere thank you to Express Ranches, Buck Cattle Company and Moore Cattle Company for their unending commitment to youth.”

Eve was donated by Scott McDonald, McDonald Farm, Grand Rapids, Mich. She is a Jan. 14, 2017, daughter of CRR 719 Catapult 109 and out of MF 914W About Yasmine 104Y by CRR About Time 743.

“A big thank you goes to Scott McDonald for donating this phenomenal heifer calf from the heart of his program to highlight the 2018 Mile High Night and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Lot 1 Foundation Female in Denver,” Cowan said.

2017 Buyers: Kolt Cattle Co. and kids, Carly, Michael and Maren, Garland, Neb.; JB Show Cattle, Joe and Dee Braman, Refugio, Texas; King Ranch, Bill King, Moriarty, N.M.; and David Shelburg, Jacksonville, Fla.

The excitement was high as Lot 1 entered the sale ring on the Stadium floor Jan. 13 at the Mile High Night Sale in Denver. BR Kate Rielle 5532 ET sold for $75,000 to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America’s (HYFA) “Growing a Lasting Legacy” campaign.

Kate Rielle was purchased by Kolt Cattle Co. and kids, Carly, Michael and Maren, Garland, Neb.; JB Show Cattle, Joe and Dee Braman, Refugio, Texas; King Ranch, Bill King, Moriarty, N.M.; and David Shelburg, Jacksonville, Fla.

“I’m very excited about what the future has in store for young Hereford leaders as we work to provide them with education, scholarship and leadership opportunities,” says Amy Cowan, American Hereford Association director of youth activities and foundation. “The Lot 1 story is such a great example of families giving back, and more importantly what the foundation stands for. We couldn’t do this without donors like the Barber family and the Kate Rielle buyers group who stepped up to give back and to make a difference in our Hereford youth program.”

Kate Rielle was donated by Barber Ranch, Channing, Texas. She is an Aug. 5, 2015, daughter of NJW 73S W18 Hometown 10Y ET and out of BR Gabrielle 5082 by BR Lansing 3060.

“We feel like there is no better way to support the next generation than with a female that can generate the type of attention and potential money that this heifer can bring for the foundation and help them reach the goal they’re striving to achieve,” says Terri Barber.
