Honoring Hereford legacies — past, present and future — was the focus Friday, Nov. 1, during the 2013 AHA Annual Meeting in Kansas City. Highlighting the Friday evening event was the kickoff of the HYFA “Growing a Lasting Legacy” campaign to ensure the sustainability of future JNHEs and leadership events for generations to come. During the 2013 American Hereford Association Annual Meeting, more than $37,000 was awarded to NJHA members in scholarship monies. This makes more than $400,000 in scholarships that have been dispersed to Hereford youth by the Hereford Youth Foundation of America HYFA since 2000. FULL STORY

P&R Herefords Donates Heifer to Benefit Hereford Youth

P&R Herefords, Leedey, Okla., has graciously donated the proceeds from the pick of its 2014 heifer calves to the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA). The pick will sell as Lot 19 in the Mile High Night Sale during the National Western Stock Show in Denver on Jan. 17. The P&R Herefords herd is anchored by daughters of CL 1 Domino 5110R, the No. 1 maternal milk sire in the Hereford breed. The P&R cow herd is considered to be one of the most functional, efficient cow herds in the Southwest. FULL STORY

Lot X in the Grandview CMR “The Big One” Dispersal Sale Nov. 8 brought $15,000 to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA). Grady Sparks, Birmingham, Ala., placed the winning bid. “Growing a Lasting Legacy” Campaign To Kickoff During AHA Annual Meeting

During the 2013 AHA Annual Meeting, HYFA will kickoff its “Growing a Lasting Legacy” campain, which will ensure the sustainability of future Junior National Hereford Expos (JNHEs) and leadership events for generations to come. Plan to join us Friday, Nov. 1 in the Argosy Casino Hotel and Spa Grand Ballroom as we celebrate Hereford youth and the future of the JNHE. Grandview CMR Donate Lot X to Benefit Hereford Youth

William and Jackie Adair along with Walt and Jil McKellar of Grandview CMR, Como, Miss., have made a gracious donation of a lot in their sale with all proceeds to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA). During Grandview CMR’s “The Big One” Dispersal Sale on Friday Nov. 8, Lot X, a heifer pregnancy sired by RST Time’s A Wastin’ 0124 and out of DJB 46B Beth 1L, will sell to benefit the HYFA. Mile High Night Sale Raises $61,000 for Hereford Youth

With the sales of the Foundation Female and three embryo packages, $61,000 was raised to benefit the Hereford Youth Foundation of America (HYFA) Friday, Jan. 18, to a packed stadium during the record-breaking Mile High Night Hereford Sale in Denver during the National Western Stock Show.

Starting the sale was the Lot 1 Foundation Female donated by Tennessee River Music Inc., Ft. Payne, Ala. The CS Boomer 29F daughter, TRM 6104 Lulu 2044 ET, was purchased by the Dave McMahon family of Belle Point Ranch, Ft. Smith, Ark., for $30,000.

Lots 38A and 38B generated another $28,000 for two embryo packages and guaranteed pregnancies by national champion females LCC Two Timin 438 ET and TCC Ms Diana 01 donated by Bushy Park Farm, Mitchell, S.D., and Tucker Cattle Co., North Platte, Neb. Sullivan Farms, Dunlap, Iowa, helped support the Foundation and added some superior genetics to its herd with this purchase.

T-Bone Ranch, Antonito, Colo., donated another embryo package that sold for $2,400 to Tejkl Show Cattle, Stanton, Neb.
