Hereford Youth Foundation Fall Scholarship Program
The Hereford Youth Foundation of America has many wonderful scholarship opportunities available for deserving members of the National Junior Hereford Association. These scholarships are presented each fall at the HYFA foundation benefit in conjunction with the American Hereford Association annual meeting in Kansas City. Application deadline is September 1 of each year.

Gary Bishop Memorial Scholarship
Gary Bishop is a former director of youth activities and director of breed improvement at the American Hereford Association. He passed away in 2002 after a battle with cancer that he met with strength and determination. This scholarship is designed to recognize those youth who demonstrate many of the same qualities that Gary demonstrated: hard working, dedicated, faithful, determined and a friend to all who knew him.
HYFA Spring Scholarship Program
April 1st is the spring scholarship deadline and all spring scholarships are awarded at the Junior National Hereford Expo. Many of these scholarships are offered with the National Hereford Women. To apply for spring scholarships visit the Scholarship Website.
Hereford Herdsman Scholarship
The Herdsman of the American Hereford Association raise funds each year to provide two scholarships to deserving members of the National Junior Hereford Association. The application deadline is April 1st of each year.
Junior Merit Award
The National Junior Merit Award is designed to recognize outstanding college-age junior members and to provide them with further higher education opportunities. The award encourages individual and cooperative effort, enthusiasm, excellence, leadership and achievement and singles out those who are promising Hereford breeders and beef industry members. Applications must be submitted to AHA by April 1st.
Walter and Joe Lewis Memorial Award
The Walter and Joe Lewis Memorial Award is one of the most coveted awards a junior member can win at the Junior National. Three finalists are recognized for overall achievement in leadership, teamwork, skills and competition. Selection of the award winner relies on a point system for participation in junior programs and activities. To be considered for the award, juniors must complete the application and return it to the AHA Youth Department.
John Wayne Memorial Scholarship
The American Hereford Youth Foundation and the American Hereford Women award two college scholarships to NJHA members who make outstanding contributions to agriculture and the Hereford industry. Applications are due April 1.
Poll-Ette Founders Scholarship
The Poll-Ette Founders Scholarship was established in 2003 in an effort to award deserving young Hereford breeders. The National Organization of Poll-Ettes through the Hereford Youth Foundation of America presents the scholarship. Application deadline is April 1st.
Golden Bull Achievement Award
Golden Bull achievement awards will be presented annually to deserving NJHA members. The award consists of a bronze Hereford bull model from the AHA and NJHA and a cash award from the Hereford Youth Foundation of America. Application deadline is April 1st.
